History:
It is believed that Sun God once pleased on the beauty of this area but also experienced the lack of water. He felt a deep grief and requested to Lord Vishnu to put some efforts on this matter. But Lord Vishnu was busy at that time in search of Padmavati and ignored the request of Sun god. On this refusal, sun god wept and one of his tear fell in this area. From the eye drops, the source of water has been started and flown in the area. Since then a glacier is continuously melting and providing fresh water to this lake. A stream named Nyund, is acting as outflow of the lake. This stream is working as drain pipe also for Kareri Lake. The shallow nature of the lake provides the visibility of the bed at various places. Cleanliness of water is high as the snow melting does not bring along the mud. The bed of the lake is constructed of shells. The present name of the lake is derived from the name of a village located nearby. Gaddi village in Kareri division is the source village of naming this lake.
