Namgyal Institute Of Tibetology Gangtok
One of the Tibet museum that is situated in Gangtok of the state of Sikkim,India is the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. This institute hires the researchers for doing research, recently there is a latest program of research that has been started and that is the documentation of the social history of about 60 monasteries of Sikkim and recording all their data on computer.
On the ground floor of this institute there is the museum that embodies the few collections of the ritual objects, statues, objects of traditional arts, thangkas and the manuscripts of ancient times in Sanskrit, Chinese, Tibeten and Lepcha. There is the image of Manjushri the knowledge’s Bodisattva that is in silver and dominates this exhibition. This image was carried from Tibet.
History
On February 10th of 1957 the foundation of this museum was laid down by the 14th Dalai Lama and was inaugurated by the PM of India on October 1st 1958 by Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru. The land on which this museum has been established was donated by Sir Tashi Namgyal who was the king of Sikkim. The main building of this institute is an awesome monument and is one of the impressive monument showing the example of the architecture of the people of Sikkim.
Collections
Besides the collections of the manuscripts some other are the Astasahastra and Prajna Paramita that has been written in the golden script of Tibetan; A palm leaf manuscript of 11th century of the Saratama Prajna paramita written by Ratnakara Shanti; Other manuscript in Chinese of 12th century of Prajana Paramita Sutra that was carried from South Korea.
A treasure chest contains the leftovers of two immense Asoka missionaries; Kasyapagotra and Madhyama is one of valuable property of the museum. Padmasambhava that is the 5 image of sandalwood that represents the 3 lamas of Sikkim were the founder of Sikkim and 1st king named PhuntsokNamgyal representing the example of the art of Sikkim. A number of the latest objects of the conventional art are regularly been added to this museum’s collections.

Giant Dome Theatre
There is the giant dome shaped building that is used as theatre for the film projection covering the area of about 23 Meters having the ability to incapacitate about 325 people. On the semi circular screen of this theater generally 70 mm films such as IMAX are being shown that generally swoop above, behind and beside the images produced so as to provide immiscible experience. All the films displayed here are dubbed in Hindi. GOTO Inc of Japan supplies the projection system of 15/70.

Timings and Ticket Prices
The timings for the opening of this institute are from 10 am - 4 pm whole week except Sundays, 2nd Saturdays and all the National government official Holidays.
Rs.10 is the chargeable fee for the entrance in this institute.
