Andhra Pradesh Karmanghat Hanuman Temple
Karmanghat Hanuman Temple is located in Hyderabad city at a distance of 12 kilometers from bus station and 15 kilometers from railway station respectively. This temple is one of the finest temples constructed for Lord Hanuman all over India. Geographical coordinates of this temple are between 17°20'22"N 78°31'36"E. From Bus station to Sagar Ring road at Karmanghat, this grand temple is located. Lord Hanuman is the presiding deity and the myth or fact behind the construction of this temple is equally interesting as the temple itself.
History
Karmanghat Hanuman Temple was built by the Kakatiyan king. According to a story, once the king went for routine hunting activities. In dense forest he heard the name of Lord Rama. He was amazed that in dense forest, where the voice is coming from. He searched his surroundings and found an idol of Lord Hanuman and also that the voice was coming from this idol. He dreamt Lord Hanuman at night with an order to construct a temple. In a short time the temple was constructed and later on, various kings who ruled over this area renovated and expanded this temple. But after a period of 400 years, during Aurangzeb’s ruling, various temples were destroyed. Emperor sent his army to demolish this temple but all efforts of the Royal Army failed. They even could not cross the premises and when Aurangzeb himself tried to demolish the temple, he heard the roar of Lord Anjaneya Swami. He feared and suspended the idea of demolition of this temple. He heard the words if he wanted to demolish the temple he must make his heart stronger. In local language, this chanting carries the meaning of (Kar-Man-Ghat). Since then the temple was being called as Karmanghat Hanuman Temple.
Festivals
Hanuman Jayanti is famous festival organized in this temple. Like various parts in Uttar Pradesh, Four Tuesday of May month are observed as Bada Mangal and on this occasion a large festival is organized in this temple.
Except this Ugadi, Sri Ramnavmi, Valmiki Jayanthi, Krishjanmashtami, Dasara etc festivals are also celebrated at this temple at grand level.
