Haryana Shiv Temple
Lord Shiva is among the supreme trinity of Hindu Religion, who is also called Mahadev. The presence of Shiv Temple in sainik colony, sector-49, Faridabad caters the cultural and religious needs of the sector residents and Faridabad city as a whole. History
Sector-49, Sainik Colony is located on Badhkal lake road, local devotees and religious institutions of Faridabad joined hands to construct a Shiva Temple in a big way to dedicate it in supreme Lord Shiva’s memory.
Architecture
The temple is beautifully constructed with white marbles specially brought from Rajasthan. It is an architectural piece of devotion with spirituality, mythology and modern building techniques. The presiding deity is Lord Shiva in the form of Shiva Linga, which is 22ft in height, made up with quality marbles.
How To Reach
By Rail
Faridabad is on New Delhi—Mumbai Rail line and Hazrat Nizammudin Railway Station is roughly 22 km from here. Almost all down fast trains have a stoppage at Old Faridabad Railway station. Local trains also run between New Delhi to Faridabad. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is also extending its service to the city.
By Air
Faridabad is well located. It is very near to IGI Airport Delhi; from here direct taxi services are being operated for Faridabad.
By Road
NH-2 (Delhi to Mathura) passes through this city and has a good Bus Stand, and thus it is well connected to all nearby Indian States through their respective Roadways Bus Services.
Local Transport
City Bus services, Taxis, Auto-rickshaws and simple Rickshaws are easily available from one to another place in between Faridabad.
Significance of the Temple
There is a huge 22 feet high Shiv Linga in the temple that attracts a lot of visitors. Everyday hundreds of devotees visit the temple to offer prayers. The Shlokas and mantras in praise of Lord Shiva are narrated and the Rudrabhisheka (a ritual in which the Shiv Linga is bathed with milk and water before it is decorated and offered Prasad or food) of the Lord is performed. The Maha Shiv-ratri festival is also celebrated with much pomp and show.
Attractions
Every day, hundreds of devotees visit the temple and they offer prayers and perform Rudrabhisheka of Lord Shiva along with chanting of mantras.
The temple is situated very near to Badhkal Lake, a famous tourist point of Haryana. The Lake is surrounded by picturesque scenario of Aravali Hills from two sides. Boating arrangements are there for tourists.
Timings and Other Important Information
From the railway station take the Mathura Road (NH-2). Then after crossing the Badhkal flyover take the Badhkal Road that leads to Sector 49 where the temple is located.
Temple is open all days from early morning to evening.
Weather and Time To Vist
The best time to visit the Shiva Temple is between October and March, when the weather is very pleasant. The flowers are in bloom in February and culturally it is an active time also. Summer temperatures are high and the heat can be quite unbearable.

Tips For Devotees
- Take out shoes and wash hands, feet etc.
- Drugs, smoking and alcohol etc. are not allowed in complex.
- Pets are not allowed.
- Don’t carry any eatable inside the temple complex.
