Maharashtra Mahalakshmi Temple
Sarasbagh area town in district Pune is basically famous for its Mahalaxmi temple. However, the main deity is Goddess Mahalaxmi but there are also idols of Goddess Sarasvati and Kali Mata have been installed. Moreover, the major attraction of the temple is its 50 feet high Gudhi which is considered as the tallest one in the state of Maharashtra. The Gudhi was greatly erected on the religious occasion of famous Gudhipadwa during 2008. This sacred Hindu worship place is frequented by approximately 20,000 devotees per day. However, another major attraction of the temple is its Brahma Utsava or Mandir foundation day. During the festival, palkhi of Devi Laxmi and lord Narayana include Kalimata and Sraswati is performed.
History
The sacred Mahalaxmi temple was constructed by late Bansilal R. Agarwal in 1972. It is said that late Sushiladevi Agarwal got a divine revelation regarding the Goddess Laxmi, Kalimata and Goddess Saraswati at the temple. Moreover, the temple has been constructed of pure white colored marble. The important point about the temple is that there is no use of steel or iron in the temple construction. Moreover, the deities in the temple are too made of pure marble. The temple construction took about 12 years to finish.
Weather and time to visit
The Pune district is famous for its tropical climate condition. Hence, the temple can be visited throughout the year but the best time to get there is from the month of March to October. However, during Navaratri festival, devotees can also visit the temple to participate in various religious rituals held in the temple.
