Maharashtra Sri Chintamani Temple
Raigad district is not only famous for its historical sites but also for its various ancient Hindu temples. The prominent sacred Sri Chintamani temple is among one of them. This sacred worship place is considered among the most visited religious places in the district Raigad. The temple is devoted to its main deity called Lord Ganesha. According to Hindu mythology Lord Ganesha is a son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. It is believed that without worshipping Lord Ganesha any Hindu ritual can not be completed. Hence, Lord Ganesha is considered among the most important Hindu Gods in Hindu community.
History
However, there is no proper evidence available regarding the construction and origin of sacred Sri Chintamani temple of Cheur but it is believed that it was constructed during the 15th century by an unknown dynasty. However, according to local legend, a saint called Chuturdarshi visited the place wherein current temple existed. He performed his penance at the same location and blessed with ultimate salvation. Hence, on the suggestion of the saint a local dynasty started the construction work of the temple. The temple is also famous for celebrating Ganesha Chuturthi. During the festival, followers of Lord Ganapathi gather here to have sacred Darshan and blessings of Ganesha.
Weather and time to visit
Raigad has the tropical climate condition. It means during the summer the city becomes hot and humid while in winter it becomes cold. However, monsoon occurs usually in the month of July and end in the month of September. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October.
