Meghalaya Sri Ramakrishna Temple Ramakrishna Mission Shillong
The Ramakrishna mission temple located in LaitumkhrahShillong is housed with the idol of Bhagwan Shri Ramakrishna Dev that has been made with marble. The idol was deified by the Swami ShankaranandajiMaharaj who was then the president of Ramakrishna Order in the year 1953.
Aarti performed in the morning and evening in the temple is attended by the local people and the visitors.
The other festival celebrated here are Janamastmi, Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Shivratri.
Significance of the Temple
The Ramakrishna mission in city of Shillong has been hosed with four different precincts. The temple has been built on the cliff of the mountain and has an eye-catching reliquary, an administrative office, the office for sale publicizing the literature imparted by Ramakrishna Vivekananda and Vedanta and the last the library linked to Swami Vivekananda.
The other campus of the Temple consists of the home for Students whose houses majorly the boys belonging to the tribal region, the other important part of the complex are the small guest house and the medical store. The third complex of the temple is dedicated to the charitable dispensary cum Polyclinic that is located at a distance of 400 meters from Ashram. The hospital serves almost 500 people who belong to poor category or don’t have money to spend on their illnesses. The last and not the least is the Cultural center that belongs to the campus of Ramakrishna mission that stands in the heart of the city and takes part in the multiple happenings of the area.
