Odisha Gaisama Siva Temple
Bargarh city is basically famous for its various ancient temples. The renowned Gaisama Siva temple at town Gaisama is one of them. This sacred Hindu temple is considered among the most visited Hindu temples in the district of Bargarh. The major attraction of this temple is its Shiva Linga which is believed to be swayambhoo or self originated.
History
The sacred Gaisama Siva temple was constructed by Chouhan rulers during the 11th -12th century. The sacred Hindu worship place is not only famous for its religious significances but also for its incredible architecture that display the real picture of Indian style of architecture. It is a known fact that Chouhan rulers constructed various Siva temples in the Bargarh city. Thus district Bargarh is also renowned as a town of Shiva Lingam. The temple is also famous for celebrating Mahashivratri, a festival devoted to Lord Shiva. During the festival of Mahashivratri, some special rituals are performed by main priest. Hence, during the festival time, followers of Lord Shiva gather here to participate in religious activities held in the temple.
Weather and time to visit
Bargarh district enjoys the tropical climate condition. It means during winter, the city becomes cold while in summer it becomes hot and humid. Monsoon usually starts in the month of July. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October. However, devotees can also visit during the Mahashivaratri festival.
