The current temple was constructed about 500 years ago by a local landlord. According to local folklore, once Goddess Mangala hid herself in the local river. A boatman tried to cross the river but wasn't able to do it. Hence, after few days in the middle river, one night he dreamt about goddess Mangala who ordered him to find out her idol in the water bed.
