Tamilnadu Chamundeeswari Temple
Tamilnadu state is famous for its various ancient Hindu temples and prominent Chamundeeswari temple of Arani is among one of them. This sacred Hindu worship place is devoted to its main deity Goddess Chamunda Devi or Chamundeeswari. It is considered among the oldest Devi temples in the district. This sacred Devi Shakti temple is frequented by thousands of devotees every year. Moreover, the festival of Navaratri is highly celebrated here. Hence, during the festival time followers of Goddess Chamundeeswari gather here to participate in some special rituals that performed in the temple.
History
It is a known fact that the temple is among one of the ancient temples in the state. One hasn't found relevant evidence available regarding the origin and construction of the temple yet it is believed that it was constructed centuries ago by an unknown dynasty. However, according to the archeological department of India, the temple might have been constructed during the 12th of century. The sculptures on the temple's walls show the mythological stories. According to a popular legend, once a sage called Chittreshwara Maharaj visited the place and performed his penance at this site.
Weather and time to visit
Tamilnadu state enjoys the tropical climate condition. It means during summer the temperature rises to 44 degree Celsius while in winter it can drop down to 7 degree Celsius. However, monsoon usually occurs in the month of July. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October.
