Uttar Pradesh Krishnajanmabhoomi
Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi is one of the beautiful and most visited temples located in Mathura. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna which is also his birthplace. He was born in the prison which was a part of the King Kansa's kingdom. Devotees in large numbers come to visit this temple and that is why it is a popular Hindu pilgrimage destination.
History
At the present time, the prison where Lord Krishna was born is a part of the temple and the devotees can have a look at the place. It is known as "Garbha Griha" and made of stone with a few excavations of the ancient era. The prison is also the example of the cruelty and the hardships suffered by the mother of Lord Krishna. Later, the same place was transformed into a lovely temple so that people could come here and worship Lord Krishna.
How to reach
By rail
Mathura is well connected to all the important places through a proper rail network. You can easily find trains that directly take you to Mathura from where you can hire taxis to reach the temple.
By road
If you prefer road transportation, you can easily find buses and taxis that are connected to Delhi, Agra and other important locations.
By air
Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi is the nearest airport from where you can catch flights to any destination you want.
Best time to visit
Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi can be visited all round the year from 7 am to 8pm, whenever you want. Janmashtami is the peak time when lakhs of people gather around the temple to worship Lord Krishna. It is a hugely celebrated and plenty of festivities are organized for the devotees.
